Expo Group takes Tanzania’s energy story to the global stage as Power & Solar Expo opens in Dar es Salaam

Tanzania’s energy ambitions have taken on a stronger international dimension as ExpoGroup opened the 10th edition of the Africa Power & Solar Energy Expo in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday, bringing together energy companies, technology providers, investors, buyers and industry professionals from Tanzania, Africa and international markets in one of the region’s major platforms for energy-sector engagement.

Held at the Diamond Jubilee Expo Centre from October 7 to 9, the exhibition places Dar es Salaam at the centre of conversations around the future of electricity, renewable energy, solar technology and energy infrastructure, while giving international companies a direct platform through which to explore Tanzania and the wider East African market.

For ExpoGroup, the 10th edition represents more than a decade of organising an exhibition. It demonstrates how a trade platform can evolve into an international meeting point connecting global technology and capital with Africa’s rapidly changing energy requirements.

Speaking at the opening, ExpoGroup Regional Director for East Africa Duncan Njange said the exhibition was designed to bring together visitors, investors, exhibitors and buyers from Tanzania, Africa and around the world, with the ultimate objective of turning connections made at the exhibition into meaningful commercial relationships.

“Let us connect, let us exchange knowledge, let us build partnerships, and most importantly let us do business,” Njange said, outlining the commercial philosophy behind the exhibition.

His message captures the changing character of energy exhibitions in Africa. Rather than serving merely as spaces where companies display equipment, platforms such as the Power & Energy and Solar exhibitions are increasingly becoming marketplaces for technology, investment, distribution networks, engineering expertise and cross-border partnerships.

Njange said ExpoGroup was proud to contribute to Tanzania’s growing role as a regional hub for trade, technology and investment, while thanking the Government of Tanzania, the Ministry of Energy, exhibitors, sponsors, partners, buyers and other stakeholders for supporting the 10th edition.

The significance of the platform is amplified by the international composition of exhibitors. ExpoGroup says the Power & Energy Tanzania exhibition has attracted companies from more than 25 countries, providing African businesses and energy-sector stakeholders with access to technologies and commercial partners from different parts of the world.

The exhibition also comes at a critical point for Tanzania and Africa, where rising electricity demand, industrialisation, urbanisation and the transition towards cleaner energy sources are creating a need for new investment and technologies. Solar, in particular, is emerging as an increasingly important component of efforts to diversify energy systems and extend access to reliable electricity.

By bringing Power & Energy Tanzania together with Solar Tanzania, ExpoGroup has created a wider platform covering both conventional and renewable dimensions of the energy industry. This allows businesses to engage with different segments of the market, from electricity generation and transmission to electrical equipment, solar systems, energy efficiency and emerging technologies.

The commercial significance extends beyond Tanzania’s borders. With Dar es Salaam serving as a gateway to neighbouring economies and wider East African markets, international exhibitors can use the exhibition to establish relationships that potentially extend across the region.

For local businesses, the equation works in the opposite direction. The exhibition provides an opportunity to meet global manufacturers, assess new technologies, identify suppliers and explore partnerships that could strengthen Tanzania’s participation in regional energy value chains.

ExpoGroup’s role in this process therefore goes beyond event organisation. Through its international exhibition model, the company is creating a structured environment in which African market demand can meet international technology, capital and expertise.

As the 10th edition gets underway, the message emerging from Dar es Salaam is increasingly regional and global: Africa’s energy future will require more than generation capacity alone. It will require investment, technology transfer, stronger private-sector participation, skilled human capital and partnerships capable of moving solutions across borders.

That is where ExpoGroup’s platform gains its wider significance. By bringing the global energy industry to Dar es Salaam, the organiser is not simply hosting another exhibition. It is helping place Tanzania inside a broader international conversation about where Africa’s next generation of energy investment, technology and business opportunities will emerge.

With the exhibition continuing through October 9, Dar es Salaam is consequently serving as a meeting ground where global energy ambitions encounter African market opportunities, with ExpoGroup positioning the 10th edition as a platform for connections that can potentially extend well beyond the exhibition halls.
