President Samia Suluhu Hassan has appointed former Lands Minister Angeline Lubala Mabula as Tabora Regional Commissioner, revoking the appointment of incumbent Beno Morris Malisa in a reshuffle that also brings new leadership to the Commission for Human Rights and Good Governance (CHRAGG).
The changes, announced on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, affect three senior positions, with the President appointing a new regional commissioner, commission chairman and vice-chairman.
According to a statement issued by the Presidential Communications Directorate at State House, Chief Secretary Moses Kusiluka announced the appointments.
Ms Mabula takes over the Tabora regional administration from Mr Malisa, whose appointment has been revoked. The statement did not provide reasons for the decision.
In a separate appointment, President Samia named State Attorney Dunford George Mpelumbe as the new chairman of CHRAGG, replacing retired Judge Mathew Pauwa Mwaimu, whose term has ended.
Mr Mpelumbe previously served in the Office of the Attorney General, bringing legal experience to the leadership of the constitutional body responsible for promoting and protecting human rights and overseeing good governance.
The President also appointed Omar Ali Omar as the commission's vice-chairman, replacing Mohamed Khamis Hamad, whose tenure has ended.
Before his appointment, Mr Omar headed the Administration, Planning and Finance Department at the Karume Institute of Science and Technology in Zanzibar.
The appointments are part of changes in the leadership of regional administration and the human rights oversight institution.
The statement said the swearing-in of the newly appointed officials would take place on dates to be announced later.
