Vice President Deogratius Ndejembi has pledged to serve with integrity, diligence and discipline, signalling his readiness to work closely with President Samia Suluhu Hassan and citizens in carrying out government responsibilities.
Mr Ndejembi made the commitment on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, when he addressed residents of Mbuyuni in Moshi District who gathered to welcome him during a private visit to Kilimanjaro Region.
The Vice President urged residents to pray for both President Samia and himself, saying public support would be important as they discharge their respective responsibilities.
He said he would rely on wisdom, discipline and loyalty as he assists the President in executing her mandate.
Mr Ndejembi also repeated a message he delivered shortly after taking the oath of office in Chamwino, Dodoma, where he sought to reassure Tanzanians about his approach to the new assignment.
“I will not trouble the citizens, nor will I trouble Mama,” he said, referring to his earlier pledge: “Hatawazingua Wana wala hatamzingua Mama.”
Beyond the political symbolism, the remarks place emphasis on accountability, cooperation and effective execution of government duties at a time when the new Vice President begins working with the President on national priorities.
Mr Ndejembi said he was ready to work with other leaders and citizens, stressing that he would approach his responsibilities with seriousness and commitment.
He arrived at Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA), where he was received by government officials, religious leaders and members of the Kilimanjaro Regional Security and Defence Committee before proceeding with his private visit.
For citizens, the key expectation from the new Vice President will be whether the commitments to integrity, diligence and cooperation translate into effective implementation of government programmes and improved delivery of public services.
