The government has postponed a public meeting that was scheduled for Tuesday to discuss plans for the development of government buildings, public institutions and tarmac roads in the Government City of Mtumba, Dodoma.
The meeting, which was scheduled for September 8, 2026, has been postponed until further notice, according to a public notice issued by the Office of the Prime Minister (Policy, Parliament and Coordination) on Monday, September 7.
The notice, signed by the Secretary of Parliamentary Affairs in the Office of the Prime Minister, did not give reasons for the postponement or provide a new date for the meeting.
The planned meeting was expected to provide members of the public with an opportunity to discuss proposed development plans covering government buildings, public institutions and road infrastructure in the Government City.
The Government City at Mtumba is part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen Dodoma’s role as Tanzania’s administrative capital by bringing key public institutions and supporting infrastructure together.
The government has been developing infrastructure in Dodoma as ministries, departments and agencies continue to relocate their operations to the capital.
