Prime Minister Mwigulu Lameck Nchemba has described Deogratius John Ndejembi as a hardworking and focused leader following his nomination as Tanzania’s Vice President.

Speaking in Parliament on Thursday, August 27, 2026, during the Prime Minister’s Question-and-Answer session, Dr Nchemba said Ndejembi had demonstrated commitment in carrying out his government responsibilities.

“Deogratius Ndejembi is a very capable leader, a careful leader and a hardworking leader who works tirelessly to ensure Tanzanians benefit,” Dr Nchemba said.

He said Ndejembi also had qualities of humility and a calm approach to leadership, adding that the new responsibilities would require cooperation with other government leaders.

Dr Nchemba said he and other ministers were ready to work with Ndejembi as he takes up his new responsibilities and implements government directives.

The Prime Minister also said President Samia Suluhu Hassan had recognised Ndejembi’s leadership qualities when selecting him for the position.

Ndejembi’s nomination follows the resignation of former Vice President Emmanuel John Nchimbi. His appointment is subject to the constitutional procedures governing the office.

The new Vice President will be expected to work with the President and other government institutions in coordinating national responsibilities and implementing government priorities.
