Health Minister Mohamed Omary Mchengerwa has joined thousands of wananchi, national leaders and local and international guests at the climax of the Kizimkazi Festival, an event that continues to grow in prominence as a platform for culture, tourism and development.
Mchengerwa attended the festival’s grand finale on August 14, 2026, alongside President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who was the chief guest at the event.
The festival has expanded over the years, attracting growing participation while providing a platform to showcase Tanzania’s cultural heritage, promote tourism and highlight development initiatives.
President Samia commended the organisers and stakeholders for their contribution to the success of the festival, which has increasingly become an important gathering for communities, government leaders, businesses and visitors.
Beyond cultural celebrations, the festival has also been used to showcase and launch development projects, including initiatives aimed at improving access to health services.
The inclusion of health-related projects at the festival reflects the government’s broader efforts to bring essential services closer to citizens and strengthen public health infrastructure.
This year’s festival also attracted international attention, with former Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embaló, who served from 2020 to 2025, attending as the guest of honour.
The participation of senior government officials and international guests underlines the growing significance of Kizimkazi as a platform linking Tanzania’s cultural heritage with tourism, investment and social development.
