Police in Dar es Salaam are holding lawyer Peter Daniel Madeleka over allegations that he disobeyed orders issued by the High Court’s Division for Corruption and Economic Crimes.
Madeleka was arrested on August 14, 2026, at around 9:30 p.m. in Mikocheni B, Kinondoni, according to police.
He is accused of contempt of court in connection with orders issued by the High Court’s Corruption and Economic Crimes Division on July 27 and August 13, 2026.
Police said the lawyer will be taken to court on August 17, 2026, for further legal proceedings.
The arrest places the matter before the courts, where the allegations against Madeleka will be subject to due legal process.
Details of the specific court orders allegedly breached were not immediately provided.
Madeleka’s case comes as the courts continue to emphasise compliance with judicial orders, with contempt of court proceedings providing a legal mechanism for addressing alleged disobedience of court directives.
