The Archery expatriate coach Hewa Perera who was in the country conducting one week local archery coaches level A course is expected to depart on Saturday, Local Archery Federation (TAF) announced.
TAF president Kelvin Fredinand Tresphory said all is ready for Perera to depart the country and thanked the Sri Lankan for his contribution to the development of the sport in the country.
He said the expatriate coach has trained local coaches on modern techniques of the game and TAF is optimistic that through the knowledge gained by the local coaches, the game will grow from grassroots level.
“ The coach (Hewa Perera)is expected to depart the country this Saturday ,we are very thankful for his service, he has done a lot , its our hope that the game will grow in the country,” he said.
He further said TAF in its first phase is expected to have strong archery clubs in Dar es Salaam,Dodoma and Mwanza soon, he also dislosed that TAF will introduce modern archery among the Hadzabe community in the country.
TAF also said the second and third phase will cover other regions.
At the closing of the level A coaches course which attracted 24 coaches from across the country ,TAF
challenged the graduates to nurture and develop many athletes in the country so that the game is to grow.
TAF also thanked the government for its support to see that the course which was being conducted in the country for the first time was successful.
The graduating coaches were awarded with Level 1 coaching certificates recognized by the World Archery Federation.
“ Archery is not new , it's one of the traditional games in the country ,but we will need you to use the knowledge gained to nurture and develop many young athletes with modern skills and techniques of the sport,” he was quoted.
Also Recently ,TAF)Vice President Innocent Mallya described the course as a good move to the development of the game in the country and expressed his optimism that the course graduates will make use of the knowledge gained to identify and nurture more talents.
“ The maiden Archery Coaches course ends on(Last) Friday in Dar es Salaam , we thank all who attended the course , its our hope that the knowledge they gained will be used to develop the game in the country,” he was quoted.
Meanwhile TAF has tasked local coaches who are attending the one week course to develop the sport from the grassroots levels .
This was the first time that the federation hosted the beginners course for the coaches, TAFA was registered by the National Sports Council (NSC)last March .
