Anticipation is mounting ahead of the Dar Boxing Derby, with boxers Hassan Ndonga, popularly known as Tyson Bongo, and Malik Deo expressing confidence as they prepare for their respective bouts on July 24, 2026, at the East Africa Commercial and Logistics Centre (EACLC) in Ubungo.

Tyson Bongo, who trains out of Mabibo, said he has stepped up preparations for his clash against Adam Peter of Magomeni, describing the contest as one he is determined to win convincingly.

Speaking during a training session, the hard-hitting boxer said he would leave nothing to chance when the two step into the ring.

"I am taking this fight very seriously. My focus is on delivering a strong performance and securing victory. My opponent should be ready for a tough contest," Tyson Bongo said.

Meanwhile, Malik Deo, a Mwanza-based boxer currently training in Mabibo, said he is equally confident ahead of his showdown with Edgar Kiduku of Morogoro.

Deo said he has undergone intensive training and is looking forward to proving his credentials in one of the event's headline contests.

"I have prepared well and I believe the fans will witness a great fight. My goal is to win convincingly," he said.

The Dar Boxing Derby will also feature several other exciting contests, including Juma Choki against Tonny Rashid, Dulla Mbabe versus Hussein Itaba, and Haidary Mchanjo taking on Oscar Richard.

In the women's category, Debora Mwenda will face Dorothea Mhoza, while Sara Alex will square off against Dorisia Mazige in another eagerly awaited contest.

Organisers expect the event to attract a large crowd, citing the depth of the fight card and the growing popularity of professional boxing in Tanzania.

The mix of experienced fighters and emerging talent is expected to deliver a competitive night of action as Dar es Salaam's boxing enthusiasts gather for one of the city's biggest boxing events of the year.
