Tanzania, Mauritius strengthen ties as Ambassador Kaganda presents credentials

Tanzania has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening cooperation with Mauritius, with a focus on expanding opportunities in trade, investment, tourism and the Blue Economy following the official accreditation of Ambassador Suzan Kaganda as the country’s representative to the island nation.

Ambassador Kaganda, who is also Tanzania’s High Commissioner to Zimbabwe and is based in Harare, presented her Letters of Credence to Mauritius President Dharambeer Gokhool during a ceremony held at the State House in Reduit on July 6, 2026.

The presentation marked the beginning of her official diplomatic responsibilities in Mauritius, where she will work to further strengthen the long-standing friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

During talks held after the ceremony, President Gokhool congratulated Ambassador Kaganda on her appointment and welcomed her to Mauritius, assuring her of his government’s support and cooperation as she carries out her diplomatic duties.

The President expressed readiness to continue working with Tanzania to promote areas of shared interest and enhance relations that benefit citizens of both countries.

Ambassador Kaganda thanked the Mauritius Government for the warm welcome and pledged to use her tenure to advance stronger partnerships between Tanzania and Mauritius.

She highlighted trade, investment, tourism and the Blue Economy as key areas where the two countries can increase cooperation to unlock economic opportunities and support sustainable development.

The Ambassador said strengthening collaboration between Tanzania and Mauritius would contribute to increased business links, greater investment flows and improved opportunities for citizens through enhanced economic engagement.

Tanzania and Mauritius have maintained cordial diplomatic relations, with both countries continuing to explore new areas of cooperation aimed at promoting economic growth and regional development.

Ambassador Kaganda’s appointment adds momentum to efforts by Tanzania to strengthen its diplomatic and economic engagements with countries across Africa and beyond.
