Tanzania is using its participation in the 48th UNESCO World Heritage Committee meeting in Busan, Republic of Korea, to strengthen global partnerships in protecting its cultural and natural heritage while promoting sustainable tourism development.
The meeting has brought together representatives from member states, heritage experts and stakeholders to discuss the conservation and management of World Heritage sites, as well as proposals for new sites to be included on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Tanzania’s delegation is led by Minister for Constitution and Legal Affairs, Dr Juma Homera, and includes Tanzania’s Ambassador to France and Permanent Representative to UNESCO, Ambassador Saidi Yakubu, and Tanzania’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Ambassador Noel Kaganda.
During the meeting, Tanzania is participating in discussions on improving the protection, management and sustainable utilisation of heritage sites, while sharing experiences and exploring opportunities for international cooperation.
The engagement also offers Tanzania a platform to promote its world-renowned tourism attractions and highlight the importance of conserving natural and cultural resources that contribute to economic growth and community development.
Through its participation in the UNESCO forum, Tanzania continues to advance efforts to preserve heritage sites for future generations while strengthening its position in global heritage conservation initiatives.
