The 2026 Taifa Cup Basketball Championship has reached a decisive stage, with eight teams in both men’s and women’s categories advancing to the quarter-finals at Chinangali Stadium in Dodoma.
The tournament, which has brought together basketball teams from different regions across Tanzania, has witnessed intense competition as players battle for a place in the semi-finals and move closer to lifting the prestigious national title.
In the men’s category, the quarter-final lineup features Geita, Kilimanjaro, Pwani, Songwe, Tabora, Dodoma, Unguja and Mwanza.
The knockout stage will see Geita go head-to-head with Kilimanjaro, while Pwani will face Songwe in another exciting encounter.
Tabora will take on hosts Dodoma, with Unguja set to meet Mwanza in the remaining quarter-final fixture.
In the women’s category, teams that have earned their place in the last eight are Tabora, Pwani, Arusha, Dar es Salaam, Dodoma, Mara, Manyara and Kigoma.
The women’s quarter-final clashes will see Tabora battle Pwani, Arusha face Dar es Salaam, Dodoma take on Mara, and Manyara compete against Kigoma for a semi-final spot.
The Taifa Cup has continued to provide an important platform for emerging basketball talents to showcase their abilities while strengthening the development and popularity of the sport across the country.
With the competition entering its most critical phase, fans are expected to witness high-intensity matches as teams fight for glory and a chance to be crowned champions of Taifa Cup 2026.
