Simba SC have been crowned champions of the CRDB Federation Cup for the 2025/26 season after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Azam FC in the final played on July 4, 2026, at Gombani Stadium in Pemba, Zanzibar.
The tightly contested final, sponsored by CRDB Bank, saw both Simba SC and Azam FC approach the first half with caution.
Neither side managed to break the deadlock despite creating a few promising chances, as solid defending and missed opportunities kept the score at 0-0 going into halftime.
In the second half, the match grew more intense as both teams increased their attacking tempo in search of the opening goal.
Simba SC gradually gained control of the game, applying sustained pressure that forced Azam FC into defensive errors.
The breakthrough came in the 62nd minute when Azam FC defender Yahya Zayd accidentally turned the ball into his own net, handing Simba SC a crucial lead that proved decisive in the final outcome.
After conceding, Azam FC pushed forward aggressively in the closing stages, committing more players into attack in an effort to find an equaliser.
However, Simba SC remained compact and disciplined at the back, successfully withstanding the pressure until the final whistle.
The match, played at Gombani Stadium, ended with Simba SC lifting the trophy, confirming their status as one of the most dominant sides in Tanzanian football after securing the title with a narrow but important victory.
