President of the United Republic of Tanzania Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan has sworn in four newly appointed government leaders, marking another step in strengthening leadership and improving efficiency across key public institutions.
The swearing-in ceremony, held at Ikulu Zanzibar, followed recent appointments aimed at enhancing coordination, accountability and service delivery within the government system.
Among the leaders taking the oath was Dr Latifa Mohammed Khamis, who has been appointed Deputy Chief Secretary in the Office of the Vice President, where she will also serve as Secretary to the Vice President.
Also sworn in was Ms Prisca Burton Lwangi, appointed Deputy Chief Secretary in the President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance.
During the ceremony, President Samia also presented appointment certificates to other senior public officials, including Mr Ephraim Balonzi Mafuru, who has been appointed Director General of the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade).
Other officials receiving appointment certificates were Ms Salum Nassor Mnuna, appointed Director General of the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA); Mr Massana Gibril Mwishawa, appointed Conservation Commissioner of the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA); and Ms Asha Dachi Mbarouk, appointed Director General of the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC).
The new appointments come as the government continues to reorganise and strengthen public institutions by placing experienced leaders in strategic positions to support national development priorities.
The changes are expected to enhance institutional performance, improve public services and advance the government’s commitment to effective governance and accountability.
