Minister for Home Affairs, Patrobas Katambi, has assured Tanzanians that the government will continue protecting peace and security to enable citizens to carry out their daily activities, including business, investment and other economic undertakings.
Speaking during his visit to the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (Sabasaba) at the Mwalimu Nyerere Fair Grounds, Dar es Salaam, Minister Katambi said peace remains a key foundation for national development and improving people’s livelihoods.
He said the government will not tolerate any individual or group seeking to disrupt the peace and stability that Tanzania has enjoyed for decades, stressing that protecting peace is a shared responsibility between the government, security organs and citizens.
“Peace has allowed our people to engage in economic activities, invest and create opportunities. The government will continue taking necessary measures to ensure that every Tanzanian remains safe and able to pursue their development goals,” Katambi said.
The minister urged citizens to value and protect the country’s peace, noting that stability has played a major role in attracting investment, promoting trade and supporting the growth of businesses across different sectors.
He said experiences from some neighbouring countries facing challenges caused by instability serve as a reminder of the importance of safeguarding peace and unity.
During his visit to Sabasaba, Katambi toured various exhibition areas where he witnessed products, services and innovations showcased by government institutions, private companies, entrepreneurs and investors.
He commended exhibitors for using the platform to promote Tanzanian products and highlight business opportunities available in the country.
Katambi said continued peace and security provide a conducive environment for businesses to grow, investments to increase and citizens to benefit from economic opportunities.
The Sabasaba trade fair remains an important platform bringing together entrepreneurs, manufacturers, investors and service providers to showcase products, explore markets and strengthen business partnerships.
