The government has pledged to strengthen support for national teams taking part in international competitions, with the aim of improving their performance and ensuring they continue to bring pride and recognition to Tanzania.
The commitment was highlighted on July 13, 2026 by National Sports Council (BMT) official Oscar Zabron during his visit to the national Judo team’s training camp in Ukonga, Dar es Salaam, where athletes are undergoing preparations for the Commonwealth Games.
Mr Zabron said the government recognises the importance of providing national teams with quality preparations, resources and a supportive environment to compete effectively at the international level.
He urged the athletes to remain focused, maintain discipline and maximise the opportunity provided by the training camp by working closely with their coaches.
“The government will continue to support national teams so they can perform well in international competitions. We encourage you to put more effort into your training and follow the guidance of your coaches because the success you achieve will be a victory for all Tanzanians,” Mr Zabron said.
He added that athletes have a responsibility to demonstrate commitment and determination as they represent the country, noting that strong preparation is key to achieving positive results in major tournaments.
Through the BMT, the government has supported the Judo team’s training camp by covering essential needs, including accommodation, meals and player allowances, to ensure athletes have favourable conditions during their preparations.
The national Judo team is now in the final phase of training, aiming to deliver a strong performance and compete for medals at the Commonwealth Games while flying Tanzania’s flag high on the international stage.
