Dodoma is using the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair, popularly known as Sabasaba, to showcase investment opportunities available in the capital city, with a focus on agriculture, agro-processing and value addition.

Dodoma District Commissioner, Alhaj Jabir Shekimweri, has commended the Dodoma City Council for participating in the annual exhibition, saying the initiative provides an important platform to market the city’s potential and attract investors.

Speaking after visiting the Dodoma City Council pavilion at the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Trade Fair Grounds, Shekimweri said such platforms are essential in promoting Dodoma as a fast-growing city with opportunities for local and international investment.

He congratulated Dodoma City Director Dr Frederick Sagamiko and Mayor Alimwoni Chaula for their leadership in advancing the city’s development agenda.

“I extend my sincere congratulations to the City Director and the Mayor for effectively managing the council and steering the growth vision of Dodoma City. Every opportunity to promote Dodoma’s position in its growth journey should be utilised with urgency,” Shekimweri said.

The District Commissioner also praised council officials from various departments, including business, land and information units, for their efforts in providing information to visitors and investors during the exhibition.

He said he was impressed by the way Dodoma City Council was highlighting investment opportunities, particularly in agriculture and agro-processing, which have the potential to create jobs and increase income for residents.

Shekimweri mentioned grape, apple, sunflower, cashew nut and other fruit production as among the areas with strong investment potential, especially through processing and value addition.

He noted that investing in agro-processing industries would help transform agricultural products into finished goods, strengthen the local economy and contribute to Dodoma’s continued growth.

According to Shekimweri, Dodoma Regional Commissioner Rosemary Senyamule has been promoting apple production, with the region expected to become one of Tanzania’s major apple-producing areas in the future.

Meanwhile, Neema Fundi from Dane Wine Company said the visit by government leaders encouraged exhibitors to continue promoting their products and services.

“I am happy to see leaders visiting our pavilion, asking about the work we do and the challenges we face. We are encouraged to continue improving,” Fundi said.

The participation of Dodoma City Council at Sabasaba reflects ongoing efforts to position the city as a centre for investment, business development and economic transformation.
