Airtel Tanzania has officially launched a modern Airtel Smart Shop in Shekilango, Ubungo District, as part of its strategy to bring services closer to communities and enhance access to digital communication and financial services through its Airtel Kila Kona initiative.
Speaking during the launch today, Airtel Tanzania’s Customer Experience Director, Ms. Adriana Lyamba, said the company continues to invest in modern retail outlets, digital platforms, and advanced technologies to ensure customers receive fast, reliable, and high-quality services that meet their evolving needs.
“At Airtel Tanzania, we believe that excellent service begins with listening to our customers and reaching them wherever they are. That is why we continue to invest in modern retail outlets, digital platforms, technology, and our people to ensure every customer receives fast, accurate, and convenient service,” she said.
She noted that Shekilango is one of the country’s fastest-growing areas and serves as a major hub for business, transportation, and residential communities. As a result, demand for communication and digital financial services continues to grow.
Through the new Smart Shop, residents of Shekilango and surrounding areas will be able to access Airtel’s full range of services in one location, including SIM registration, Airtel Money services, internet services, smartphones, and professional customer support from on-site service representatives.
Speaking at the event, the Guest of Honour, Ubungo District Commissioner Hon. Albert Msando, commended Airtel Tanzania for its continued partnership with the Government in strengthening telecommunications infrastructure and expanding digital services, initiatives that support the growth of the digital economy and sustainable national development.
“We are proud of Airtel Tanzania’s contribution of TZS 65.48 billion in dividends to the Government, while continuing to invest in telecommunications infrastructure and digital services that contribute to our nation’s sustainable development,” said Hon. Msando.
As part of its commitment to environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility, Airtel Tanzania continues to implement its Go Green campaign, which promotes clean energy and sustainable environmental management. Through its E-Waste Go Green initiative, the company is encouraging the safe collection and recycling of electronic waste to protect both public health and the environment.
In addition, more than 50 percent of Airtel Tanzania’s telecommunications towers are now connected to the national electricity grid. This transition has significantly reduced fuel consumption, increased the use of clean energy, and lowered carbon emissions, supporting national efforts to protect the environment.
Airtel Tanzania reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Government and other stakeholders to continue investing in digital infrastructure and improving customer service.
These investments aim to expand access to digital financial services, stimulate economic activity, and contribute to the country’s sustainable economic growth.
Airtel Tanzania is 49 percent owned by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania. Recently, the company presented TZS 65.48 billion in dividends to the Government, reflecting its continued contribution to sustainable national economic growth through investments in telecommunications infrastructure and digital services.
