ACT Wazalendo leaders have called on members to remain united and continue supporting the party's National Chairperson, Othman Masoud Othman, as the party seeks to strengthen its internal structures and political agenda.
Speaking during the opening of the ACT Wazalendo Micheweni Constituency Constitutional General Meeting on July 25, 2026, National Executive Committee member Salim Muhammed Shafii urged members to remain focused on the party's objectives despite criticism directed at its leadership.
He said party members should not be swayed by remarks targeting the national chairperson, describing unity as essential to achieving the party's goals.
Shafii said issues that have already been made public and formally endorsed should not continue to be treated as confidential, adding that members should remain committed to strengthening the party.
The former Chonga Member of Parliament also urged leaders and members in Micheweni Region to promote reconciliation, cooperation and solidarity, saying internal cohesion would enhance the party's effectiveness.
He said ACT Wazalendo would continue pursuing its political agenda, including advocating for Zanzibar's interests and the rights of all Tanzanians.
He further said abandoning the struggle for rights was not an option, stressing that unity remained one of the party's strongest political assets.
Shafii also commended the ACT Wazalendo leadership in Micheweni for successfully conducting constitutional general meetings in all four constituencies in the region, describing the exercise as a sign of organisational stability.
Earlier, ACT Wazalendo Micheweni Regional Chairperson Rashid Khalid Salim said the completion of the constituency meetings reflected the party's organisational strength and called on members to maintain unity.
ACT Wazalendo Pemba Coordinator Rashid Ali Abdallah said the party remained committed to advocating for the rights of Tanzanians, while describing National Chairperson Othman Masoud Othman as a leader who has consistently defended the interests of Zanzibaris.
Micheweni Regional Patron Mpaji Abasi Yusouf said the successful completion of the meetings demonstrated the party's continued institutional growth and encouraged young members to remain actively involved in party activities.
Women's leader Bimgeni Jadi Kadika called on female members to participate more actively in the party's affairs and continue championing the interests of Zanzibaris.
Tumbe Member of Parliament Juma Abdallah Juma, who serves as patron of the Micheweni Constituency, said he was pleased that the constituency had fulfilled the constitutional requirement of holding its general meeting.
Earlier, Micheweni Constituency Secretary Hamad Kombo Ali said 283 of the expected 288 delegates attended the meeting, enabling it to attain the quorum required under the party's constitution.
