RC Chalamila leads farewell for late SACP Richard Abwao, RPC Tabora

Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Albert Chalamila today, June 21, 2026, joined hundreds of mourners in Dar es Salaam to pay his final respects to the body of Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SACP) Richard Abwao, who served as the Regional Police Commander (RPC) for Tabora Region.

The solemn ceremony took place at the Police Referral Hospital hall along Kilwa Road, where senior government officials, police officers, family members, and members of the public gathered in large numbers to honour the late senior officer. 

The atmosphere was marked by deep sorrow as mourners reflected on his service and dedication to maintaining peace and security in the country.

Speaking during the farewell, RC Chalamila conveyed heartfelt condolences to the Tanzania Police Force, the bereaved family, relatives, friends, and all who were affected by the loss. 

He described the passing of SACP Abwao as a great loss not only to the police force but also to the nation. 

He prayed for comfort and strength to the family during this difficult period and asked Almighty God to grant the deceased eternal rest in peace.

The government and police leadership praised the late officer for his commitment, discipline, and contribution to strengthening law and order during his service.

After the ceremony in Dar es Salaam, the body of the late SACP Richard Abwao is expected to be transported to Tabora Region for further arrangements. 

Burial preparations will later continue at his home in Shirati, Tarime District in Rorya, where final respects will be paid.

The country continues to mourn his passing, remembering him as a dedicated officer who served with loyalty and professionalism in safeguarding citizens and national security.
