Tanzania’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Mr Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, has delivered a special message from President Samia Suluhu Hassan to the United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, reaffirming the country’s commitment to international cooperation, peace and sustainable development.
The message was conveyed during a meeting between the two leaders, where discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between Tanzania and the United Nations, as well as addressing shared global priorities.
Mr Kombo underscored Tanzania’s continued support for multilateral efforts aimed at promoting peace, stability and sustainable development, while highlighting the country’s role in advancing regional and international cooperation.
Following the discussions, the minister presented Mr Guterres with a book on Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, Tanzania’s founding president, in recognition of the UN chief’s long-standing admiration for Nyerere’s leadership, vision and contribution to global peace, development and international solidarity.
The gesture reflected Tanzania’s commitment to preserving and promoting the legacy of Mwalimu Nyerere, whose ideals continue to inspire efforts towards peace, unity and sustainable progress both within Africa and beyond.
