Students from Golden Value School have gained valuable knowledge on energy use and environmental conservation after visiting the Ministry of Energy pavilion at the ongoing World Environment Week 2026 exhibitions held at the Jakaya Kikwete Convention Centre in Dodoma.
The students, accompanied by the school’s head, Ms. Nuru Nyundo, included pupils from Standard Four and Standard Six.
The visit aimed at enhancing their understanding of the energy sector and its important role in protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development.
During the visit, the pupils were introduced to key issues such as clean cooking energy, renewable energy sources, and modern technologies designed to reduce environmental damage caused by traditional energy practices.
Experts from the Ministry and its affiliated institutions guided the learners through various displays and explanations.
The students were also informed about national efforts to expand access to clean, reliable, and affordable energy, with a focus on improving public health, reducing environmental pollution, and supporting sustainable economic growth.
Speaking during the visit, Ms. Nyundo said exposing learners to such national exhibitions is essential in building environmental awareness from an early age.
She noted that children are important future stakeholders who need to be equipped with knowledge on responsible energy use and environmental protection.
She added that practical learning experiences help students better understand classroom lessons and inspire them to become responsible citizens who actively contribute to environmental conservation efforts in their communities.
One of the students, Maria Yusuph, a Standard Six pupil, said the visit had helped her better understand the importance of clean cooking energy and its benefits to both health and the environment.
She said she was particularly impressed by the information shared on how clean energy reduces air pollution and protects families from health risks associated with traditional cooking methods.
Maria added that she plans to share the knowledge with her peers and family to encourage wider use of clean energy.
The students also visited other stands under institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Energy, where they received further explanations on ongoing projects aimed at increasing access to sustainable energy solutions across the country.
World Environment Week 2026 began on June 1 and is expected to conclude on June 5, 2026, at the same venue.
The exhibitions have brought together government institutions, development partners, the private sector, students, and environmental stakeholders to share knowledge and promote sustainable environmental practices.
