The Zone Five Africa Beach Volleyball Championship is set to take place from May 20 to May 25 this year at Sawa Sawa Beach in Dar es Salaam, bringing together top national teams from the region in a crucial competition that will determine qualification for continental and international tournaments.
Speaking to The Respondent Online, Beach Volleyball Commissioner of the Tanzania Volleyball Federation (TVF), Abdul Magono, confirmed that preparations for the championship have been fully completed, reaching 100 per cent readiness ahead of the opening matches.
He said all participating nations have already arrived in Tanzania and are fully prepared for the competition.
The countries taking part include Kenya, Uganda, Sudan, Egypt, and host nation Tanzania, all expected to deliver highly competitive performances in the tournament.
“All preparations have been completed, and all teams are here and ready for the challenge as they compete for qualification tickets to the African championships,” said Magono.
He further explained that the championship serves as a key qualifying pathway for teams aiming to secure places in the Olympic Games Beach Volleyball qualification rounds, which will be held in the United States of America.
Magono called on stakeholders, sports enthusiasts, and Tanzanians in general to turn out in large numbers to support the event.
He said strong public support would boost the morale of players and inspire them to deliver strong performances on home soil.
He emphasized that hosting the tournament in Tanzania is a great opportunity for local athletes to showcase their talent, compete at a high level, and work toward flying the national flag proudly in international competitions.
