Employees of the Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency (Tarura) have been urged to maintain professionalism, accountability and commitment in executing their duties despite the growing public recognition over improvements in road infrastructure across the country.
Speaking during the opening of the agency’s Workers’ Council meeting in Tabora, Tarura Chief Executive Officer Eng. Victor Seff said the achievements recorded by the agency should inspire workers to raise performance standards further rather than become complacent.
He noted that wananchi have continued to commend Tarura for improving the condition of rural and urban roads, but stressed that the praise should serve as motivation to deliver even better services.
“We continue to receive positive feedback from citizens because of the good work being done by Tarura, but these achievements should not make us complacent. We must continue to work professionally, with integrity and greater commitment to improve service delivery,” said Eng. Seff.
He acknowledged the contribution made by Tarura employees nationwide, saying their efforts have played a key role in transforming road infrastructure since the establishment of the agency.
According to him, improved roads have continued to enhance transport connectivity, facilitate movement of goods and people, and support economic activities in both rural and urban areas.
The Secretary General of the Tanzania Mines, Energy, Construction and Allied Workers Union (Tamico), Mr Paternus Rwechungura, commended Tarura for strengthening cooperation with employees through regular Workers’ Council meetings.
He said the continued engagement between management and staff has contributed to improved working relations and effective implementation of the agency’s responsibilities.
Representing the Secretary General of the Tanzania Local Government Workers Union (Talgwu), Ms Happyness Makombe praised Tarura staff for their commitment in implementing road projects across the country.
She said the impact of the agency’s work is increasingly visible through the expansion of all-weather roads, which have improved transportation of agricultural produce, access to social services and overall community development.
Meanwhile, Mr Tamsoni Mshighati, representing the Secretary General of the Tanzania Union of Government and Health Employees (Tughe), applauded Tarura employees for carrying out their duties efficiently in their respective stations.
He also encouraged workers to join labour unions in order to strengthen employee welfare and enhance the role of workers’ councils in public institutions.
