Tanzania’s Minister of State, President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance, Ridhiwani Kikwete, has led the country’s delegation to the East African Community (EAC) budget preparatory ministerial meeting held in Arusha, as Partner States advance efforts to finalise the regional budget for the 2026/2027 financial year.

The meeting is a crucial stage in the EAC budget cycle, which must be completed and submitted to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) for debate and approval before June 30, 2026.

Mr. Kikwete was accompanied by the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation responsible for EAC affairs, James Millya; Deputy Minister for Finance, Mshamu Ali Munde; and the Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Said Shaibu Mussa, who also serves as Acting Permanent Secretary for EAC affairs, alongside senior government officials.

The ministers and officials from EAC Partner States reviewed budget proposals for key regional institutions, including the East African Court of Justice, the East African Legislative Assembly, and the Lake Victoria Basin Commission, among others.

The discussions focused on strengthening financial planning, improving efficiency of EAC organs and institutions, and enhancing regional integration efforts aimed at delivering better services to citizens across the East African region.
