Twenty-four players have been named in the Tanzania national football team, Taifa Stars, squad that will enter camp on May 29 ahead of two FIFA international friendly matches against Uganda and Rwanda.
Speaking after the squad announcement, Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) Information and Communications Officer, Clifford Ndimbo, said the team will begin its official training camp in preparation for the match against Uganda scheduled for June 5 before facing Rwanda on June 9 in Marrakech, Morocco.
He said the preparations are part of the FIFA international calendar aimed at strengthening Taifa Stars ahead of upcoming international competitions while also giving the technical bench an opportunity to assess players competing both locally and abroad.
The squad features players from several Tanzanian clubs, including Zuberi Foba, Aishi Manula, Feisal Salum, Elias Lawi and Pascal Msindo from Azam FC.
Other local-based players include Bakari Mwamnyeto, Mudathir Yahya and Ibrahim Hamad from Young Africans SC, while Simba SC will be represented by Nickson Kibabage, Suleiman Mwalimu and Vedastus Masinde.
Also called up are Abdulkarim Kiswanya of Namungo FC, Yona Amos of Pamba Jiji FC, Mohamed Mussa of Mashujaa FC and Bakari Msimu of Coastal Union.
Foreign-based players selected for the squad include Charles Mmomba of Floriana FC, Novatus Dismas of Göztepe S.K., Mohamed Sagaf of Eastbourne Borough in England and Haji Mnoga of Salford City FC.
Others are Alphonce Mabula of Shamakhi FK, Saimon Msuva of Iraq’s Al Talaba, Cyprian Kachelwe of HFX Wanderers FC, Tarryn Allarakhia of Rochdale AFC and Saidi Khamis of Malaysia’s Immigration FC.
Taifa Stars are expected to use the two matches to assess the team’s progress and continue strengthening the squad ahead of future international competitions.
