In a significant step toward deepening strategic cooperation between Poland and Tanzania, Polish financial institutions are playing a notable role in advancing infrastructure development in Tanzania.

The Polish Export Credit Agency, KUKE, together with the Polish Development Bank, BGK, are contributing to the construction of Lots 3 and 4 of the Standard Gauge Railway, stretching from Makutupora to Isaka.

The signing ceremony took place in Dodoma in the presence of the Minister of Finance, underscoring the strong commitment of both sides to fostering impactful cooperation.

Poland has long been recognized as a railway nation, where rail infrastructure has served as a backbone of economic and social development connecting regions, facilitating trade, and enhancing mobility.

Drawing from this experience, Poland fully appreciates the transformative significance of the SGR project for Tanzania.

Diplomatic relations between Tanzania and Poland have been built on a longstanding foundation of mutual respect, cooperation, and shared interests.

Since the establishment of formal diplomatic ties, the two countries have collaborated across various sectors including education, trade, infrastructure development, and professional exchange.

This partnership has been further strengthened through development agreements, joint initiatives, and sustained engagement between public institutions and the private sector.

For Tanzania, the SGR is more than a transport project; it is a catalyst for economic transformation enhancing domestic and regional trade, attracting investment, and unlocking new development opportunities.

Poland’s involvement reflects strong confidence in Tanzania’s development vision while reinforcing the growing diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.

Together, Tanzania and Poland continue to write a new chapter of international cooperation aimed at sustainable development, where railways serve not only as corridors of movement, but as bridges of opportunity, prosperity, and enduring friendship between their peoples .
