CCM Secretary for Ideology, Publicity and Training, Kenani Kihongosi, has urged Tanzanians to ignore politicians attempting to influence citizens to hate police officers, saying the force plays a critical role in protecting people and their property.

Kihongosi made the remarks on May 16, 2026 while addressing a public rally at Nyamwaga area in Tarime District Council, Mara Region, as part of his four-day tour of the region.

He said the public should appreciate the contribution made by security and defence organs instead of being persuaded to develop hostility toward them, stressing that peace and stability remain the foundation of national development.

“Without peace there can be no development. Citizens should cooperate with security organs to ensure safety in their areas is maintained at all times,” Kihongosi said.

He also called on residents of Tarime to avoid politicians who promote violence and conflict, warning that inflammatory statements could threaten social cohesion and undermine community development.

According to him, political leaders should focus on promoting unity, dialogue, and constructive engagement rather than spreading messages that could create divisions within society.

Kihongosi emphasized that maintaining peace and security is a shared responsibility between citizens and state institutions, adding that cooperation with law enforcement agencies is important in preserving public order and protecting national interests.

During the rally, he reiterated the importance of safeguarding Tanzania’s long-standing peace and urged wananchi to reject divisive politics that could destabilize communities and slow development efforts.

The meeting formed part of CCM’s ongoing outreach activities in Mara Region aimed at engaging citizens on issues of peace, unity, development, and national security.
