A senior ruling party leader has said that President Samia Suluhu Hassan has maintained policies and programmes aimed at strengthening youth empowerment, calling on young people to take advantage of available opportunities in education and economic development.

The remarks were made on May 24, 2026, by Ndele Mwaselela while addressing a symposium organised by the Muslim Students’ Association of Universities and Colleges (TAMSYA) held at Mkapa Hall in Mbeya City.

Mwaselela said government efforts have focused on improving access to education, skills development, and economic participation among young people through various national programmes.

He noted that the state continues to strengthen systems intended to support youth involvement in development activities.

He said national leadership priorities include long-term economic and social development, with emphasis on creating opportunities for future generations.

He added that young people remain a key demographic expected to engage in education, innovation, and entrepreneurship initiatives.

Mwaselela urged young people to observe patriotism, unity, and discipline, saying these values are important for maintaining peace and stability in the country. He noted that development efforts depend on a stable social and political environment.

He also shared aspects of his personal background, saying he grew up in a modest family environment and progressed through education and career development by using available opportunities. He encouraged students to remain focused and committed to their goals despite challenges.

Mwaselela further said it is important for leaders to maintain engagement with young people in order to understand their needs and improve policy responses affecting education and employment.

Religious leaders who attended the event said such forums contribute to discussions on ethics, education, and responsible use of technology among students.

The Mbeya Regional Sheikh noted the role of such gatherings in supporting moral and academic development.

According to TAMSYA’s Mbeya leadership, the symposium brought together around 150 students from various higher learning institutions in the region. The discussions focused on education, ethics, and youth development issues.

Participants were also informed that government allocation for higher education loans increased to about TZS 700 billion in the 2024/2025 financial year, benefiting more than 220,000 students. Organisers said the funding has expanded access to higher education for students from different backgrounds.

TAMSYA leaders said the organisation continues to support students in academic, social, and spiritual development, while encouraging them to apply their knowledge in contributing to national development.
