Mbeya City Mayor, Dormohamed Issa, has conducted an inspection visit to the ongoing construction of the Sokomatola central bus terminal and the adjacent market, projects being implemented under the TACTIC programme aimed at modernizing urban infrastructure in the city.

The Mayor toured the site to assess the progress of the works and review the quality of construction since the projects commenced.

He expressed satisfaction with the level of implementation, noting that the pace and standards of work reflect strong commitment from the contractor and stakeholders involved.

Issa said the projects, once completed, will bring significant improvements in service delivery, particularly in transport and business activities within Mbeya City.

He added that the developments are expected to ease congestion, improve safety, and create a more organized environment for traders and passengers.

However, the Mayor directed the contractor to increase the speed of work to ensure timely completion of the projects. He emphasized that residents of Mbeya City are eagerly waiting for the facilities to be completed and put into use.

He further stressed that strategic infrastructure projects such as the Sokomatola bus terminal and market play a key role in driving urban economic growth.

According to him, the investments will strengthen business opportunities, improve revenue collection, and enhance the overall efficiency of transport and trade systems in the city.

The TACTIC-supported projects are part of ongoing efforts by the government and Mbeya City Council to transform urban services and promote sustainable development in rapidly growing cities.
