The Ministry of Finance has concluded a training programme on Internal Control Guidelines aimed at strengthening accountability, improving efficiency, and enhancing the management of public resources across the ministry.
Speaking during the closing session held at Morena Hotel in Morogoro Region, Acting Chief Internal Auditor, Mr Kenneth Nindie, called on participants to ensure that the knowledge gained is fully applied in their day-to-day duties to improve public service delivery.
He said the effective implementation of internal control systems remains a key pillar in promoting transparency, accountability, and proper use of government resources for the benefit of citizens.
Mr Nindie emphasized that internal control is not merely a theoretical concept, but a practical system that must be embraced and lived within all levels of operations to deliver tangible results in public institutions.
He further noted that strong internal control systems help institutions to prevent misuse of resources, reduce risks, and improve overall performance in service delivery to the public.
For his part, the Ministry of Finance Chief Internal Auditor, CPA Evaristo Mwalongo, said the training was designed to deepen understanding among staff on their roles and responsibilities from top management to lower levels, as well as to strengthen capacity in identifying and managing risks that may affect daily operations.
He added that when properly implemented, internal controls play a critical role in safeguarding public funds and ensuring that government programmes achieve their intended goals efficiently.
Participants who attended the training expressed appreciation for the programme, saying it had provided them with valuable knowledge and practical skills that will help improve efficiency and professionalism in their work.
They pledged to apply the lessons learned to strengthen internal systems, enhance accountability, and improve service delivery to citizens.
The training covered key areas including the concept and objectives of internal control, staff responsibilities at all levels, and risk management strategies within public institutions.
