Chalamila warns youth against political hatred and propaganda

Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Albert Chalamila has urged young people to avoid destroying their future through divisive politics and hate-driven propaganda, instead encouraging them to focus on hard work and self-reliance as the true path to success.

Speaking on Saturday, May 16, 2026 during a university students’ conference held under the theme “Never Again,” Chalamila said life is far more difficult than many young people imagine and cannot be transformed through empty political slogans or social media rhetoric.

He stressed that real success comes through perseverance, sacrifice, and determination rather than political manipulation and verbal confrontations.

“Even with the education you are receiving today, the real challenge is being able to sustain yourself economically. The only way to achieve that is by interpreting life differently and working hard,” he said.

The Regional Commissioner told students that many young people are being misled into hatred and unnecessary conflicts that do not contribute to their personal development or the country’s progress.

According to him, it is unfortunate to see some youths expressing hostility toward individuals simply because they have been appointed to leadership positions in government, despite having done nothing wrong to them personally.

He cautioned students against allowing political propaganda to shape their thinking, saying hatred and division only weaken national unity and distract young people from pursuing meaningful opportunities.

Chalamila further encouraged university students to use their education to build productive lives, contribute positively to society, and become responsible citizens capable of driving national development.

The conference brought together students from higher learning institutions in Dar es Salaam to discuss patriotism, peace, unity, and the responsibility of young people in safeguarding Tanzania’s stability and future.

The “Never Again” message promoted during the event emphasized the importance of protecting national peace and ensuring that incidents capable of threatening unity and harmony are not repeated.

Chalamila concluded by calling on youths to embrace discipline, resilience, and constructive engagement, saying Tanzania’s future depends heavily on how responsibly young people choose to use their knowledge, energy, and influence.
