Athletics Tanzania (AT) calls for sponsorship

Athletics Tanzania (AT)has called upon Corporate World ,Well Wishers and Sports Stakeholders to support the association so that it can successfully host this year’s National Athletics Championships which is scheduled for early  July  at Filbert Bayi School in Kibaha , Coast Region.

AT president Rogath Stephen Akhwali said the association needs more than 100/m to successfully host the championships and appealed to corporate world , well wishers and sports stakeholders to help the association.

He said the sponsorship will help the sponsor’s brands to reach many people worldwide.

“The National Championships will be covered in both mainstream and social media where it will reach millions of people worldwide, it will engage with many decision makers in both public and private sectors am calling upon the corporate world,well-wishers and athletics lovers to align with Tanzania rising success in global athletics and support the  development of future Olympics,” he said.  

He said  the Premier Track and field event is aimed at celebrating speed ,endurance and excellence , and they  expect 600 athletes to compete in various events , they will be three hundred to 500 elite athletes, and will also  have a good media coverage and ten thousand to 15,000 are expected to be expectators.

 

Meanwhile, he has disclosed that the Championships which was slated for this month end has been   pushed back to July 3-4 at the same venue.

 

  He said the postponement was done in order to give the opportunity young athletes to compete at the championships, Initially the championships for slated for 29-31 of this month ,but according to Akhwali the days collides with this year’s  dates  of  Interprimary (UMITASHUMTA)and Secondary (UMISETA)Games .

He said AT aim is to give young athletes the opportunity to showcase their potential at the National Athletics Championships which attracts elite athletes from across the country.

“ Last week We had an executive meeting where we discussed many issues concerning the National Athletics Championships which was to be held in this month end in Kibaha , Coast Region , we looked at many things which included the involvement of young athletes who are the future of the country athletics,

“ We looked at this year’s calendar of  Interprimary (UMITASHUMTA)and Secondary (UMISETA)Games , it collide with the dates of the National Championships so we agreed that we postpone the National Championships to July so that best performing young athletes at the two games compete at the championships in youth categories , this will give them (Young athletes) the much needed exposure and experience,there are also other logistics like accommodation which we considered,” he said
