ACT Wazalendo has continued strengthening its internal structures after more than 140 delegates attended its Constitutional General Meeting held in Nungwi, Zanzibar.
The meeting, held on May 16, 2026, brought together 140 out of 230 expected delegates, reflecting active participation of members in party affairs at constituency level.
Opening the session, ACT Wazalendo National Secretary for Information, Publicity and Communication, Salim Biman, said the turnout demonstrates the party’s unity, strength, and commitment to democratic principles.
He said the participation rate of more than 59 percent shows that the party remains active and well-organised, with members who are ready to contribute to its growth at all times.
“This is a committed party that continues to grow stronger, and its members are always ready whenever they are needed,” said Biman.
The meeting also carried out constitutional duties, including the election of a new Constituency Chairperson to fill a vacant position following the death of the former office holder.
ACT Wazalendo Deputy Secretary for Organisation, Training and Elections in Zanzibar, Khamis Ali Salum, commended the delegates for respecting party procedures and ensuring the smooth conduct of the meeting.
He said adherence to constitutional processes is key to strengthening internal democracy and maintaining stability within the party structures.
It was also reported that ACT Wazalendo constituencies across Zanzibar continue to hold similar constitutional meetings at branch and constituency levels to strengthen organisational systems and improve coordination.
During the meeting, the constituency treasurer presented a report highlighting progress made by the party, while noting challenges that emerged following the October 2025 General Election results.
