The Second Vice President of Zanzibar, Hemed Suleiman Abdulla, has called on newly appointed Tanzanian ambassadors to prioritize the country’s national interests while representing Tanzania abroad, with a particular focus on trade and investment opportunities.

Speaking at his Vuga office during a farewell meeting with the ambassadors, Hemed emphasized that their role goes beyond diplomatic representation.

He urged them to actively seek avenues to boost Tanzania’s economic growth and strengthen bilateral relations with their host countries.

“The purpose of your appointment is not only to represent Tanzania, but to serve all Tanzanians. You must safeguard our country’s reputation, enhance economic cooperation, and promote investment opportunities that will drive national development,” Hemed said.

He also stressed that ambassadors should identify potential opportunities in their host countries that can contribute to Tanzania’s development agenda, particularly in trade and investment sectors.

Responding on behalf of his colleagues, Ambassador Cyprian John Luhemeja of Zambia assured that they would perform their duties with professionalism, integrity, and in line with guidance from the country’s top leadership.

The farewell meeting included Ambassador Engineer Zena Ahmed Said (Saudi Arabia), Ambassador Cyprian John Luhemeja (Zambia), Ambassador Maulidah Bwanaheri Hassan (Oman), Ambassador Salim Othman Hamad (Comoros), Ambassador Swahiba Habib Mndeme (Sweden), Ambassador Noel Emmanuel Kaganda (Korea), and Ambassador Mussa Haji Ali, Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York.

Hemed’s message underscores Tanzania’s commitment to proactive diplomacy, ensuring that its international representatives actively contribute to the country’s development while strengthening its global partnerships.
