The Ministry of Finance of the United Republic of Tanzania and the Ministry of Finance and Planning of Zanzibar have reaffirmed their long-standing cooperation through a joint community outreach activity in Dodoma, aimed at supporting patients and strengthening relations between the two institutions.
Officials and staff from the two ministries visited patients at the Dodoma Regional Hospital, where they donated essential items including soap, body oil and other basic supplies to mothers and children receiving treatment at the facility.
The visit forms part of an annual programme organised by the sports clubs of the two ministries, which brings together employees from both sides of the Union for sports activities and charitable initiatives aimed at helping vulnerable members of society.
Speaking after handing over the donations, the Director of Administration and Human Resources at the Zanzibar Ministry of Finance and Planning, Rajabu Weje Yakubu, said the outreach activity reflects the spirit of cooperation between the two ministries while also giving back to the community.
He said the delegation this year decided to focus on the maternity and children’s wards at the hospital.
“This year we planned to visit the maternity and children’s wards. In the maternity ward we met about 38 mothers, while in the children’s ward we visited 44 children who are under the age of five,” he said.
Yakubu added that the gesture was intended to provide comfort and encouragement to patients and their families while strengthening the partnership between the ministries.
Speaking on behalf of the Assistant Director of Administration at the hospital, Simbani Mganga, Senior Human Resources Officer from the Ministry of Finance, Salum Said, said the two ministries will continue with the annual tradition as part of Easter celebrations.
He noted that the visits have become an important platform for strengthening professional relationships between staff from Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar while also promoting a culture of compassion and social responsibility.
“It has become our tradition for the Ministry of Finance in Mainland Tanzania and that of Zanzibar to visit each other every year during Easter celebrations. Last year we travelled to Zanzibar, and this year they have come to Dodoma to continue nurturing the strong working relationship that has existed for many years,” he said.
After the hospital visit, staff from the two ministries participated in a sports bonanza and later held a joint meeting at the Gerwill Hotel conference hall in Dodoma, marking the conclusion of the annual gathering aimed at promoting unity, cooperation and community support.
