Korosho Queens eye Muungano Cup glory after strong start

By Victoria Godfrey

Korosho Queens have underlined their title ambitions in the ongoing Muungano Cup in Zanzibar after a commanding start that has positioned them among early favourites.

The side has registered two emphatic victories, beating Mafunzo 3-0 and KVZ 3-0, results that reflect both attacking sharpness and defensive discipline as the tournament gathers pace.

They face KMKM on April 23, 2026, in an evening fixture that could further shape their path in the competition, with consistency now emerging as a key test for the in-form squad.

Team manager Hussein Kibombwe said preparations have focused on both tactical organisation and mental strength, noting that the players are fully aware of the demands of each match.

“We have prepared well for every game and we are determined to keep pushing for positive results. Our goal is clear—to win the title,” he said.

Beyond performances on the pitch, Kibombwe credited sustained institutional support for the team’s progress, thanking the Tanzania Cashew Board, led by Director General Francis Alfred, for backing the club over the past four seasons.

The sponsorship, he said, has played a crucial role in strengthening the team’s competitiveness and enabling consistent participation at a high level.
