Absa Bank Tanzania has announced enhancements to its Unsecured Personal Loan (UPL) Proposition for private sector salaried employees, strengthening access to flexible, affordable financing as part of its commitment to empowering Africa’s tomorrow – one story at a time.
Under the enhanced offering, private sector employees can now access loans of up to TZS 200 million - increased from TZS 150 million, extended repayment periods of up to 96 months (8 years), and a fully unsecured structure, requiring no collateral.
The proposition applies to both Existing‑to‑Bank (ETB) and New‑to‑Bank (NTB) customers, subject to standard credit assessment.
This development follows a similar enhancement previously implemented for public sector salaried employees, where Absa increased the government employees loan limit to TZS 200 million, extended repayment tenures to 10 years, and reduced the loan top‑up waiting period from 6 months to just 3 months. Together, these enhancements demonstrate Absa’s continued commitment to supporting salaried customers across different sectors at critical stages of their financial lives.
Speaking on the announcement, Absa Bank’s Director of Retail Banking, Ms. Ndabu Swere, said the enhancements are grounded in a deep understanding of customers’ life journeys.
“At Absa, we understand that every customer’s life is a story, shaped by different chapters and defining moments. Whether in the public or private sector, our role is to empower customers to move forward with confidence. By enhancing our unsecured personal loans, we are enabling them to say YES to progress - because their story truly matters,” said Ms. Swere.
Ms. Swere highlighted the importance of flexibility and affordability across different life stages.
“Extended tenures and higher loan limits give customers the room they need to balance today’s responsibilities with tomorrow’s ambitions. From starting a business, furnishing your home, investing in education to medical needs or debt consolidation, this proposition allows customers to advance themselves (Kujisogeza) without unnecessary financial pressure,” said Ms. Swere.
She added that eligible existing customers may also apply for top‑ups or refinancing, subject to internal policies and credit approval.
The enhancement is supported by a customer campaign dubbed “Jisogeze na Mkopo wa hadi TZS 200 million”, encouraging customers to confidently move forward in their financial journeys.
Customers can apply for the Unsecured Personal Loan by either visiting any Absa branch, speaking to a Relationship Officer, or Contacting Absa customer service channels.
