The Ministry of Health has taken a bold step to strengthen accountability and citizen engagement through the newly launched “Talk to the Minister” platform.
Minister of Health, Mohamed Mchengerwa, described the initiative as a crucial bridge between the government and the people, providing a direct channel for citizens to share their opinions, complaints, and suggestions.
Officially launched on January 26, 2026, the platform aims to improve transparency in the delivery of health services and ensure that government decisions respond directly to the needs of the public.
Speaking today, March 13, 2026, during a visit to Mwananyamala Regional Referral Hospital in Dar es Salaam, Minister Mchengerwa participated in a “Talk to the Minister” session that brought together health workers and community members.
The meeting provided a forum for open discussions on the challenges facing healthcare delivery and for citizens to offer constructive feedback.
Minister Mchengerwa emphasized that the platform reflects the government’s commitment to listening to citizens as a core principle for providing quality services and enhancing accountability.
He noted that direct engagement with the public is key to identifying gaps in the health system and shaping policies that effectively meet community needs.
“The ‘Talk to the Minister’ initiative is not just a channel for communication; it is a tool for improving service delivery and ensuring that the health sector responds to the real concerns of Tanzanians,” he said.
By institutionalizing citizen participation in policy discussions, the Ministry of Health is setting a new standard for service delivery in Tanzania, reinforcing transparency, accountability, and responsiveness at all levels of the health sector.
