Taifa Stars Begin Camp Ahead of FIFA 2026 Friendlies in Rwanda

The Tanzania national football team, Taifa Stars, will kick off their official training camp tomorrow as they prepare for two international friendly matches under the FIFA Series 2026 in Kigali, Rwanda.

The team will spend several days training in Tanzania before traveling to Rwanda to compete, with head coach Miguel Gamondi emphasizing the importance of building a competitive squad.

“Our goal is to ensure the team is ready to fight for positive results. I want to see Taifa Stars perform strongly, show high-level competitiveness, and improve our FIFA ranking,” said Gamondi.

The coach recently announced a 25-man squad that features some of the nation’s top talents. Goalkeeper Aishi Manula leads the defensive line alongside Zuberi Foba, Feisal Salum, Elias Lameck, and Twalibu Nuru. 

Key midfielders include Idd Suleiman (Azam), Mohamed Hussein, Bakari Mwamnyeto, Mudathir Yahya, Ibrahim Abdulla (Yanga), Nickson Kibabage, Suleiman Mwalimu, and Yusuph Kagoma (Simba).

Other notable squad members are Yona Amos, Kelvin Nashoni (Pamba Jiji), Mohamed Mussa (Mashujaa), Bakari Msimu (Coastal Union), Paul Peter (JKT Tanzania), Haji Mnoga (Salford City, England), Novatus Dismas (Göztepe, Turkey), Alphonce Mabula (Shamikhia BK, Denmark), Saimon Msuva (Al Talaba, Iraq), Kelvin John (Aalborg BK, Denmark), Charles Mmomba (Gloriana AFC, Malta), and Tarryn Allarakhia (Rochdale AFC, England).

The upcoming camp and matches provide an opportunity for Gamondi to test strategies, strengthen team cohesion, and fine-tune preparations ahead of international competitions.
