The Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG), Prof. Riziki Shemdoe, has held talks with Tanzania’s Ambassador to France, Ali Mwadini, on strategies to attract international investors for the development of the Msimbazi Valley in Dar es Salaam.

The meeting focused on exploring opportunities to mobilise global investors who can support the transformation of the valley into a modern economic and environmental zone.

During the discussion, the two leaders agreed on the importance of developing a coordinated plan to attract international investment in the valley.

The government has already begun implementing projects in the area aimed at reducing the impact of floods while also opening new opportunities for investment and commercial activities.

The Msimbazi Valley project is regarded as one of the major urban transformation initiatives intended to address recurring flooding challenges in Dar es Salaam while creating space for new business developments and urban renewal.

If successfully implemented, the planned investments are expected to stimulate economic growth, improve social services and create employment opportunities for residents of Dar es Salaam and nearby areas.

The project is also expected to attract both local and foreign investors and strengthen the city’s position as a major business hub in the East African region.

Prof. Shemdoe visited the Embassy of Tanzania in France on March 13, 2026, as part of efforts to support investment promotion initiatives aligned with the development agenda championed by President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

The planned investments in the Msimbazi Valley form part of the government’s broader strategy to modernise urban infrastructure, control flooding and position Dar es Salaam as a key centre for trade and investment in the region.
