The National Environment Management Council (NEMC) has invited members of the public and stakeholders to participate in environmental education exhibitions ahead of the International Day of Zero Waste, whose national celebrations will be held on March 30, 2026, at Mnazi Mmoja Grounds.

The event will be preceded by a two-day exhibition scheduled for March 28–29 at the same venue, bringing together government institutions, private sector organisations and environmental stakeholders to showcase innovations and initiatives in waste management and environmental conservation.

Through the exhibitions, visitors will receive practical education on how waste can be transformed into valuable resources and economic opportunities through recycling and innovation.

Organisers say the exhibitions will also highlight different technologies and creative solutions that turn waste into useful products, while promoting sustainable environmental management practices.

The initiative aims to raise public awareness about the importance of proper waste management, recycling and environmental protection in addressing pollution and supporting sustainable development.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend the exhibitions and the main event to learn how waste can be converted into resources through innovation and recycling, while also gaining knowledge on how to protect and manage the environment in their daily lives.

The organisers emphasised that environmental protection is a shared responsibility, urging citizens to take an active role in conserving nature.

“Our environment, our life — let us protect it so that it can protect us.”
