Prime Minister Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba has inspected the newly completed Sitalike Bridge over the Katuma River in Nsimbo District, Katavi Region.
The bridge links the region with other parts of the Southern Highlands and neighboring countries, including the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, and Rwanda.
After the inspection, Dr. Nchemba said the bridge marks a turning point for transport in the area. “This structure is a major upgrade from the previous bridge, which was weak and posed challenges for residents and transporters,” he said.
He emphasized that the Sitalike Bridge is part of the government’s nationwide bridge construction program aimed at saving lives, improving transport, and boosting economic activities.
The bridge, fully completed, cost TZS 9.1 billion and was constructed by the government through the Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS).
