The relief items were handed over in Mirerani township to Simanjiro District Commissioner Fakii Raphael Lulandana, who received them on behalf of the affected families and commended the company for supporting communities facing the disaster.

Mr Lulandana said the ongoing rains had caused significant flooding in several areas of Moipo Division, leaving many households with waterlogged homes and destroying thousands of acres of crops.

According to him, the floods affected 1,163 residents and washed away about 5,429 acres of crops, mainly maize and beans.

He said 233 of the affected residents are from Endiamtu Ward where about 1,570 acres of farmland were damaged, while Mirerani Ward recorded 409 victims and destruction of about 249 acres of crops.
