Prime Minister: Coco Beach will not be sold, upgrades for local benefit

By The Respondents Reporter

Prime Minister Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba has clarified that Coco Beach will not be sold to any investor, affirming that ongoing upgrades will benefit the local community.

Dr. Nchemba made the announcement on March 29, 2026, during a visit to Coco Beach, where he engaged with small business operators and listened to their concerns.

“Coco Beach is not for sale. Let me remove any fear no investor will take over, and nobody will issue directives beyond those given by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan. This area belongs to you,” he said.

He stressed that the government will continue implementing the President’s directives to ensure Tanzanians enjoy the benefits of the planned improvements.

“We, as assistants of the President, will ensure citizens receive the smiles that Mama has promised,” Dr. Nchemba added.

The Prime Minister also instructed officials from Kinondoni Municipal Council—including the District Commissioner, Council Director, and Business Officer—to engage directly with citizens rather than waiting in offices.

“Go out, meet the people, and address their concerns where they occur,” he urged.

He further encouraged Coco Beach entrepreneurs to support the government’s improvement efforts, noting that the upgrades will create opportunities that directly benefit them.
