Women from the Mining Commission headquarters and the Dodoma Resident Mines Office joined other women across the country to commemorate International Women’s Day during celebrations held at Mbande Primary School.
The event, which took place in Kongwa District in the Dodoma Region on March 8, 2026, brought together women from various public and private institutions to celebrate the role women play in social and national development.
Participants used the occasion to reflect on the progress made in advancing women’s rights and the continued need to strengthen efforts aimed at achieving gender equality in different sectors of the economy.
This year’s celebrations were guided by the theme: “Rights for Women and Girls: The Foundation for Inclusive Development towards the National Development Vision 2050.”
The theme highlights the importance of ensuring that women and girls have equal access to opportunities in education, economic empowerment and leadership.
These areas are considered key pillars in building sustainable and inclusive national development.
During the event, participants emphasised that empowering women and girls is essential for achieving long-term development goals and improving the wellbeing of communities.
They also encouraged communities and institutions to continue supporting initiatives that promote gender equality and remove barriers that limit the participation and progress of women and girls in different sectors.
The celebrations further provided a platform for participants to exchange views and share experiences on strategies aimed at strengthening women’s empowerment.
Discussions focused on ways of ensuring that the rights of women and girls are fully recognised and protected as the country continues to work towards its long-term development vision.
