Tanzania’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation responsible for East African Affairs, James Millya, on Sunday saw off the President of Burundi, Évariste Ndayishimiye, at Kilimanjaro International Airport after the conclusion of the 25th Ordinary Summit of Heads of State of the East African Community (EAC).
President Ndayishimiye was in Tanzania to attend the regional summit held on March 7, 2026 at the Arusha International Conference Centre in Arusha.
The summit brought together heads of state from EAC member countries to discuss key issues aimed at strengthening regional integration, trade and cooperation among partner states.
The meeting also reviewed progress on the implementation of regional development programmes and explored ways to deepen collaboration in sectors such as infrastructure, investment and economic growth.
After concluding his official engagements at the summit, President Ndayishimiye departed the country through Kilimanjaro International Airport where he was seen off by Deputy Minister Millya and other government officials.
