The Chem Chem Foundation, in partnership with the U.S.-based organization Chair The Love, has donated 148 wheelchairs to residents in need in Babati District, Manyara Region.

The initiative is part of Chem Chem’s ongoing community support programs in Babati, which include interventions in health, education, water, and other social services.

During the handover ceremony, Chem Chem General Manager Clever Zulu commended Chair The Love for its continued partnership in supporting local communities.

He urged residents in the ten villages forming the Burunge Community Wildlife Management Area (WMA), where Chem Chem has invested, to continue conserving the environment and wildlife to attract more tourists.

Napendael Wazoeli, Chem Chem’s Community Development Projects Manager, said the foundation aims to empower communities through conservation, which directly benefits residents living near the WMA.

He emphasized that the wheelchair donation reflects the positive outcomes of Chem Chem’s investments in environmental protection, wildlife conservation, photographic tourism, and hotel services.

On behalf of the Babati District Council, Legal Officer Jofrey Jaffar encouraged the community to continue supporting Chem Chem, noting that institutions investing in the Burunge area have a direct impact on local lives through tangible assistance.

Some recipients expressed their gratitude to Chem Chem and its partners, saying the support will improve their mobility and daily life.

Rehema Peter, a resident of Vilima Vitatu one of the ten villages forming the WMA appealed to the foundations to continue supporting those who have yet to receive assistance.

This marks the fourth consecutive year that Chem Chem, in collaboration with Chair The Love, has provided such support. The partners have pledged to continue assisting communities across Tanzania.
