Former Speaker of the National Assembly and President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Tulia Ackson, has released constituency development funds to initiate the construction of dormitories at Itezi Secondary School in Uyole Constituency.

Dr Tulia, who is also the Member of Parliament for Uyole, said the project will be financed through the constituency fund, with TZS41 million already allocated to begin construction.

The first phase will focus on building a girls’ dormitory for Form Four students, aimed at improving learning conditions and supporting effective preparation for national examinations.

She said the funds will be deposited directly into the school’s account and called on the school board and Itezi ward leaders to ensure the money is used efficiently and transparently.

Dr Tulia added that she will continue to mobilise additional resources to ensure the timely completion of the project.

She further said that, alongside dormitory construction, the long-term plan is to ensure that secondary schools in Uyole Constituency offer Advanced Level education, enabling students to pursue Forms Five and Six within their communities.

Dr Tulia, who also leads the Inter-Parliamentary Union, reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening education infrastructure, describing it as a critical investment in academic performance and human capital development.
