The Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA) has stepped up efforts to position the country as a competitive industrial and logistics hub after taking part in the Suhar Investment Forum held in Sohar, Oman, from February 4 to 5, 2025.
The forum showcased Sohar as a strategic gateway for industry and logistics under Oman Vision 2040, bringing together senior government officials, investment agencies and private sector leaders from across the Sultanate. Presentations focused on targeted investments in ports, free zones, special economic zones and industrial cities, backed by world-class infrastructure and readily available industrial land.
For TISEZA, the discussions offered valuable insights and a platform to benchmark Tanzania’s own industrialisation drive. Officials noted that the Sohar development model bears strong similarities to Tanzania’s strategic coastal growth corridors, including Bagamoyo, Mtwara and Tanga, areas identified as key engines for industrial growth, logistics and export-oriented manufacturing.
On the sidelines of the forum, TISEZA held a series of business-to-business engagements with the Oman Investment Authority, the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and several private sector stakeholders. The meetings explored potential investment partnerships and avenues for cooperation within Tanzania’s Special Economic Zones, with a focus on attracting capital, technology and expertise.
The participation underscores Tanzania’s broader push to deepen economic diplomacy and learn from successful international industrial models, as the country seeks to accelerate industrial development, create jobs and strengthen its position in regional and global value chains.
